I want to celebrate with a step I took today! I resisted my favorite type of cookie at a pageant workshop I attended with my sister. No, I am NOT doing the pageant, she is. Which I'm super proud of her for trying something new, and I am her "proxy mom" in the whole process, so I had to attend the orientation. OF COURSE, they had DELICIOUS sugar cookies as apart of refreshments, and I wanted one SO BADLY. Heart shaped, pink icing, sprinkles...the whole shebang. My mouth watered as my sister's sat in front of her and I munched on carrot slices...though they were fresh and delicious. At the end of the meeting I had my sister snag one and I proceeded to do the following:
I will thoroughly enjoy this Saturday when my weekly points reset. Now, yes, I could have had this tonight. I CHOSE not to because I have only 4 weekly smartpoints left and I had already eaten my dailies. So, though still was craving something sweet upon returning home...I didn't turn to cookies. I made this simple, 0 smartpoint treat:
Sliced up the rest of our strawberries and did 1 T of Light Coolwhip. Hit the spot and no guilt attached :)
Let's revert back in time to lunch...Hickory Smoked Tuna Sliders with Mixed Veggies (6sp).
These little beauties were made with 1 tsp Light Mayo (0sp), about 1 t mustard, and a dash of FLAVOR FAVE: Trader Joe's 21 Seasoning in a small bowl and spread on a piece (with this type of bread, one piece breaks apart into 4 mini foldit sliders. For all three pieces, it's 4sp) of FLAVOR FAVE: FLATOUT Hungry Girl Foldit Sliders in Classic White (4sp)I then took 2 homemade pickle rounds and cut them into quarters, and then mixed about 1/2 T of mustard with 1 packet of FLAVOR FAVE: Starkist Single Serve Tuna Creations Hickory Smoked Flavor (2sp). The Starkist Single Serve Tuna Creations come in TONS of flavors...The Hickory Smoked, Ranch, Sweet &Spicy, and Herb & Garlic are my favorite. Okay, I pretty much like all of them except the Lemon Pepper. When they are on sale 10 for $10, I stock up because they are so handy and quick to put masterpieces together. The veggies were done in under 4 minutes with my handy dandy veggie steamer :) Below is a picture of the flatout bread for reference.
Now, the picture you see below is the same meal I created but I added some spices to the veggies and that's how I ate them. If you ever feel like your veggies are a bit "blah" ADD SPICES. Don't have salt and pepper be your ONLY go-to. Spices really jazz things up without added sodium, if you so choose. And, spices make things look so much more appetizing.
These are just a few spices that I ALWAYS have stocked on my spice wall.
These are flavor creators that I also ALWAYS have stocked in my cooking cabinet.
Learn how to use these babies and your food world will be BLOWN!
Moving on...
After my delicious lunch, my fourth meal had to be quick because I wanted to make it to the evening WW mtg as I totally forgot today was Tuesday and that this morning was my usual WW mtg. I could have skipped, but I needed to keep my promise of attending a meeting (other than my own that I lead) each week. My fourth meal ended up being a banana with a PB&J Quest Bar. FLAVOR FAVE: Quest Bars. I seriously LOVE THEM. I've tried many a protein bar and these are BY FAR the best tasting. They are a bit pricey but can be found at various grocery stores and DEFINITELY at GNC. Just think of it as a meal...so like a $3 meal, because that's what those bars are meant to replace. Anyways, these bars don't hurt the insides and really are so flavorful that they DO satisfy. Give them a shot...points wise they range anywhere from 3-6sp. I have heard that the Pumpkin Pie bar is NOT so good and really high in points. But have a go, and you just might become addicted. :)
And there it is...all labeled in it's glory. It sure satisfied the peanut butter and jelly sandwich I was craving. So it saved the day. Essentially it was a peanut butter bar with pieces of raspberry in it. I will probably buy it again for peanut butter and jelly sandwich pinches.
Finally, dinner came around and the crockpot was the cook today. I put 4 chicken breasts in the crockpot with 2 cups chicken broth and heavily dashed those babies with Backyard Brick Oven Chicken seasoning from McCormick and let them cook on low for 9 hours. By the time I got home, they were ready to serve. Drizzled 5.6 oz of chicken breast (3sp) with some BBQ sauce (Guy Fieri's BBQ Sauce in Brown Sugar Bourbon 1 T for 1sp), steamed up some broccoli (0sp), had a side salad with some salsa (0sp), and a serving of Harvest Snaps Lentil Bean Tomato Basil crisps (24 pieces for 3sp). All of that deliciousness for 7sp!
And again, I apologize for the food being already half eaten..but forgive me...today was an off day. A very satisfying day, food wise, but off.
Well, that's a wrap! Thanks for reading, happy eating, and I look forward to sharing more! I hope to hear from some of you and your thoughts on the foods that YOU are trying, or things that are working well for your new lifestyle changes! :)
